A place to live the life you choose

Introduction to Waratah

We believe that home is a sanctuary from the rest of the world. A place to be yourself, live the life you choose with comfort, safety and security. Home is a place where you connect as little or as much as you like without judgement or control.

Which is why we want all our participants to feel that Waratah is their home. We are simply there in the background to help as little or as much as needed, to support daily living, to provide safety and security, to gently encourage independence, to provide opportunities – so that our participants can enjoy all that life has to offer.

Services

At Waratah we recognise that everyone is different, so we don’t believe in making participants fit into a system. We want our participants to have choice and control over how they live their lives, including their own routines, activities, and preferences. That’s why we offer wide range of services to meet their needs.

Aside from a beautiful living space, we provide support for daily living, help facilitate community participation, create group, and centre based activities, offer healthy living options, and provide opportunities for social connection.

Charter

Waratah Independent Living respects and fully commits to upholding the rights of all people, including those with disabilities. Waratah Independent Living is also committed to ensuring participants are aware of their rights and responsibilities and are supported to exercise them.

In supporting participants to exercise their rights, we must comply with the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 and NDIS Practice Standards (2018) – Rights and Responsibilities.

For Support Co-Ordinators

We appreciate the role of Support Co-ordinators and are aiming to be the easiest SIL Provider to work with. Your clients will benefit from the beautiful environments that are more than just accommodation, they are a home. From the décor, cleanliness, quality of care and access to opportunities, Waratah is focussed on helping participants shine.

We truly focus on ‘choice and control’ putting participants and their families first.

For Family

It is our mission to provide the same levels of care you would expect from a loved one. We want to see participants happy, flourishing, respected and cared for while gently fostering autonomy and independence.

For families we want you to experience peace of mind knowing your loved one is in our care. We offer full transparency, regular updates and welcome family members to visit as often as they choose.

Locations

Waratah currently has five locations – Leura, Katoomba, Mona Vale, Collaroy and Mosman where we have carefully selected properties that deliver on our promise and meets the needs of participants. Each home is beautifully decorated and well maintained from the interiors to the gardens.

Private rooms feature ensuite bathrooms and many have direct access to the courtyards and gardens. Participants can make use of the various living spaces where they are free to interact as little or as much as they choose.

“Theo is a strong advocate for Don's needs and has on many occasions acted on behalf of Don in circumstances not many others would have done so. I am more than pleased to be endorsing Theo.”
