This is home

A place to build my independence

Giving families peace of mind

We appreciate that finding a suitable Supported Independent Living home can be an emotional and daunting task. From understanding the NDIS, to finding the right home, to making sure your loved one settles in comfortably, it can be overwhelming and often undertaken with little time to feel fully informed.

More than accommodation, we provide a home

At Waratah, we do things a little differently. Unlike other Supported Independent Living providers, we provide more than accommodation. We provide a home. A home that supports participants physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs – as individual as they may be.

We aim to help your loved one live the life they choose with the same level of care you would expect from a loved one. Like you, we want to see participants happy, flourishing, content, respected and cared for while gently fostering autonomy and independence.

Offering genuine care

With our heritage in Buddhist philosophies, you only need to spend a few minutes with the team to experience the genuine care. Our support workers are always on hand to help, whether to help with a task, provide friendship, participate in an activity.

Respecting individuality

As a team, we believe participants shouldn’t be made to fit into a system. Waratah doesn’t come with rule books and curfews. Instead, we seek to understand the specific routines, needs, work, hobbies and pastimes of your loved one and support them in their choices.

Friends and family welcome

One of those choices may be to have friends and family visit, which is strongly encouraged at Waratah. Not only do participants gain enormous benefit from social connection, but family members experience the facilities and see the Waratah team in action, with complete transparency.

Keeping your loved one safe

Many of our participants are classified as vulnerable persons, and our team is adept at balancing personal safety and security while maintaining independence. We aim to keep loved ones as safe and secure as possible in a kind and encouraging way.

Healthy and happy

A supportive home environment has benefits for mental wellbeing. As does a healthy diet, opportunities for physical activity and a secure, comfortable place to sleep. Family members often comment that their loved ones are in the best mental health since moving to Waratah.

Creating a harmonious environment for the long term

Part of creating a harmonious home environment is ensuring there is compatibility among participants.

That is why we welcome the opportunity to discuss the needs of your loved one where you can learn more about us, and we can understand more about your needs and how best your loved one can be accommodated.

We welcome enquiries from guardians and family members. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly to organise for you to meet the team and visit your preferred location

“When making decisions about care, every parent or guardian should ask themselves if they would be happy living there. That was what made it easy for me; Waratah was hands down the best choice we could have made.”
