A place to feel safe and secure

We appreciate that being charged with finding the right SIL Accommodation can be challenging. From understanding the individual needs of the client, to finding the right service provider to meet those needs, to ensuring each placement is a success for both participants and their families, often with little turnaround time. At Waratah, we want to share the load by being the easiest SIL Provider to work with, delivering the best of care.

More than accommodation, we provide a home

At Waratah, we do things a little differently. Unlike other Supported Independent Living providers, we provide more than accommodation. We provide a home – a home that supports participant’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs – as individual as they may be.

With a beautiful ambiance

Our homes start with the creation of a warm, calming environment. We look for unique properties that have a homely feel through the layout, décor and gardens while meeting the needs of participants. Many of our participants enjoy ensuite rooms and private balconies – their own private sanctuary.

Offering genuine care

With our heritage in Buddhist philosophies, you only need to spend a few minutes with the team to experience the genuine quality of care. Our support workers are always on hand to help with a daily living task, provide friendship or participate in an activity.

Respecting individuality

As a team, we believe participants shouldn’t be made to fit into a system. Instead, we seek to understand our participants’ specific routines, needs, work, hobbies, and pastimes and support them in their choices. We work around the participant rather than insisting participants fit into our ways of operating.

Putting participants and family first

One of those choices may be to have friends and family visit, which is strongly encouraged at Waratah. Not only do participants gain enormous benefit from social connection, family members also experience the facilities and see the Waratah team in action, with complete transparency.

Keeping participants safe

Many of our participants are classified as vulnerable persons, and our team is adept at balancing personal safety and security while maintaining independence. We aim to keep loved ones as safe and secure as possible in a kind and encouraging way.

Healthy and happy

A supportive home environment has benefits for mental wellbeing. As does a healthy diet, opportunities for physical activity and a secure, comfortable place to sleep. Family members often comment that their loved ones are in the best mental health since moving to Waratah.

Creating a harmonious environment for the long term

Part of creating a harmonious home environment is ensuring there is compatibility among participants.

That is why we work closely with Support Co-ordinators to make sure we can accommodate your client’s needs for the long term.

We welcome enquiries from Support Co-ordinators. Please don’t hesitate to contact us directly to organise for you to meet the team and visit your preferred location.

“Theo is a strong advocate for Don's needs and has on many occasions acted on behalf of Don in circumstances not many others would have done so. I am more than pleased to be endorsing Theo.”
